Synopsis

Successful Marriages and Families explores in-depth the principles and practices in "The Family: A Proclamation to the World. " Understanding and implementing these principles and practices will help build and strengthen families and help to prevent problems common to families all over the world. While it is directed to members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons), it may be useful to people of other faiths as well. It collects guidance from Holy Scriptures and modern LDS Church teachings. Attention is given to reviewing secular research from the social sciences regarding important marriage and family issues, including forming and sustaining healthy marriages, positive parenting, faith and forgiveness, abuse, same-sex marriage and many other topics. The use of secular research to compliment sacred truths about family life is a unique feature of this volume, with contributions from more than 50 strong family scholars who also cherish their faith.
